Can You Trust the National Trust?

Friday, April 28th, 2006

Peyton Knight rides in like his namesakes of yore to decry what he says the National Trust for Historical Preservation is doing to promote their own agenda and take away property from individual owners. Knight is the guest of Chuck Harder on his For the People show and is the Director of Environmental and Regulatory Affairs for the National Center for Public Policy Research (NationalCenter.org). He says that the National Trust is more and more involved in legislation instead of the preservation of historical buildings. A case in point, Knight claims, is the National and Historical Trails-the National Trust is using that as a tool to promote an anti-property agenda. Chuck wants to know why if this is known, someone, like the National Center for Public Policy Research, is not taking them to task. ?Go get ?em, Tiger?, Chuck encourages. Also up for discussion is why we aren?t drilling for oil in Alaska. If we had done this ten years ago when it was first proposed, expresses Knight, we would not be facing some of the problems we have today. He reports that 75% of Alaskans favor the drilling in the Alaskan Artic National Wildlife Refuge (ANWR) and that it would only affect 2000 acres out of the 1.5 million acres of the Refuge. A Britain’s View

Friday, April 28th, 2006

Jonathan Blain is an international keynote speaker, among other things, and as such,
probably has a pretty good idea as to what people from other countries think of us. So Chuck Harder on his show For the People asks Blain, ?Why do others hate the United States?? And Blain probably does have an understanding of what others think of us. However, it?s hard to decipher that from this show. What does come through is that he loves the American people. And perhaps that statement is part of the answer to the question- maybe it?s not the people that others hate as much as America the country. Chuck says he could certainly understand if others do hate us because we have not always been very nice to other countries. Blain (JonathanBlain.com) believes that we?ve all become commentators about what is going on in our world but very few are standing up and saying what they really think and that must take place. We need to look for universal values ? things that link us together, not those things that are decisive. Click here to listen to this podcast.

Nothin’s for Sure

Wednesday, April 26th, 2006

You would think that if someone has a book called ?101 Homeland Security Guarantees? that the discussion on Chuck Harder?s show, For the People, might actually focus on homeland security. Not exactly. The guest is Bill Losey who says, succinctly, in his book that there are no guarantees. He says it so succinctly that there are no words in the book, just blank pages. (Click here to own this book.) Losey (BillLosey.com) also tells Chuck that expecting guarantees, in any area of your life (financial, relationships, employment, etc) is a sure fire way to disaster. Losey, by training, is a financial planner but he calls himself a performance strategist. Briefly that is one who leads another in decision-making processes to get to a desired future. There are many in our country, reports Losey, that expect the company that they work for to take care of them with health benefits now and a great pension later. Just by looking at the news we can see that that is not a guarantee any more. So what do we do? Take control of your own life; expect nothing and plan for everything; develop your own intellectual, financial, emotional and physical capital. The problem, according to Losey, is not that we aim too high and miss but that we aim to low and are content with what we reach. Click here to listen to this podcast.

Burn, Baby, Burn

Wednesday, April 26th, 2006

Ever wonder what to do with your old computers? Here?s a hint: do not just simply put them out on the curb for pick up. If you do, you?ll likely have something picked up but it won?t be just your computer. It could be all your personal information on your hard drive. John Lusich is the guest of Chuck Harder on this information-packed episode of the For the People show. Lusich, who used to be a detective, is the Managing Director for Network Security Group Inc. (CyberLies.com). and he comes to the listening audience with a wealth of information on how to keep your private information private. Here are some key words: Burn; Shred; and Sledge hammer. Click here to listen to how these all apply to your personal security and that of your family.

Warm Waters

Monday, April 24th, 2006

Political activist, past President of Alaska Federation of Teachers, researcher, lecturer. These are all words to describe Dr. Nick Begich but today the word used is guest. He is the guest of Chuck Harder on Harder?s show, For the People. On the table for discussion in this podcast are energy issues and climate changes. On energy- this administration does not seem to understand, he says. They seem to have turned a tin ear to the situation. Begnich feels that it is up to the people to get Congress to take charge and get going. Chuck asks Begich about warming of the oceans and Begich has a little different take on that from many. He says that a lot of the warming of the oceanic waters can be attributed to undersea volcanic eruptions, a natural occurrence. He believes that any warming due to the depletion of the ozone layer is minimal since that would only affect a short depth of water. Begich has a website (Earthpulse.com) where you can find out what else he believes in but you can click here to listen to this podcast.

The State of Our Morals

Monday, April 24th, 2006

What if instead of providing general education for the inmates in our prisons, we were to provide them with character theory? This is one of the proposals stated by Chuck Harder?s guest, Col. Alexander Stuart, on this episode of the For the People show on TalkStarRadio. Stuart is a retired army colonel, who along with two psychologists, wrote a book called Moral Health (Click here to own the book). He says that when prison inmates are trained in character, to increase their moral aptitude, that it decreases recidivism by 75%. His goal is to bring back the moral health that did exist in this country, he says, until President Johnson shut down the voice of the church. That event caused the rise of special interest groups and the increase in our national debt. To figure out how all this is woven together, including the Fabian Society, click here to listen to this podcast.

Lawyer for the People

Monday, April 24th, 2006

Most states have Small Claims Courts, although the amount of monies that can be sued for varies from state to state. (I know that in Vermont the limit is $3,500 while in Florida the amount is $5,000). Small Claims Courts, says Hans Bader of the Competitive Enterprise Institute (CEI.org) are actually a very good thing because you can go to court to sue for monies due you without having to engage a lawyer, thus saving you money that would be eaten up by lawyer fees. This may be surprising coming from Hans since he is an attorney but then wait till you hear what else he has to say on this episode of Chuck Harder?s show, For the People. He tells Chuck that the legal system needs to be more consumer-friendly and less lawyer-friendly. Chuck mentions that some corporate CEOs get paid oodles of money and do nothing to earn it. Hans, however, says that in many corporations the CEO is at least responsible for ensuring that the stockholders get a good return on their dividends, whereas (Like how I inserted that bit of legalese?) there are some lawyers who also get oodles of money (we?re talking $20,000/hour) and they do nothing to increase the profits of the company. Click here to listen to what else Hans has to share about those in his profession.

“Pepto” Isn’t Enough

Friday, April 21st, 2006

Chuck is feeling a little queasy today but it has nothing to do with his recent hospital stays. No, he says he is feeling a little queasy just like he did before 9/11 happened. When he looks at all the sometimes little and sometimes not-so-little things that are occurring like the three factions of Muslims fighting, he fears what might be coming just around the corner. Chuck?s guest on this episode of ?For the People? is Robert Thomas Raming and he is in agreement with Chuck. He believes that our government is doing a massive cover-up starting back with the Waco incident in 1993, followed by the Oklahoma City bombing exactly eleven years later, and then the 9/11 tragedies. Raming says he has more questions than answers about those three occurrences since in each one the powers that be seem to sweep in and truck away all the evidence before it can really be examined. Raming, who has a book titled ?War and Death of the American Dream?, responds to Chuck?s question about the current war by saying he does not believe that our government wants to be extricated from it- that our government is using it to ?break the backs of the American people?.

You may click here to own the book and click here to listen to this podcast.

Hens and Foxes

Friday, April 21st, 2006

Dave ?Mudcat? Saunders may sound like a good ol? Southern boy but make no mistake- this is one sharp guy. Hang in there through the first minute or so of this podcast of Chuck Harder?s For the People? show and you will realize that this is a man who is educated and passionate about his beliefs. What are his beliefs? Well, the title of his new book (along with co-author, Prof. Steve Jarding) gives a pretty good indication as to where he?s coming from: ?Foxes in the Hen House: How the Republicans Stole the South and the Heartland and What Democrats Must Do to Run ?em Out?. This is not a man who accepts all Democrats as wonderful (he does not have particularly good words for Bill Clinton) but he does have some very strong words of praise for some. Ask him about John Edwards (or as ?Mudcat? refers to him as Johnny) and there is nothing but praise. If you wish to own Saunders? book, you may click here. Out with the Old

Wednesday, April 19th, 2006

Today it was announced that Scott McClellan, the Bush Administration?s Press Secretary, is resigning. Actually, there have been several changes at the White House in staff and Chuck Harder wants to know why. So he asks his guest, Jed Babbin, what?s going on in Washington? Babbin basically says that working at the White House is working in a ?killer atmosphere? so there is no surprise that there has been such a turnover. Also, it is fairly common for there to be turnover in a President?s second term. What else does Jed see going on in Washington? He sees lots of motion but not much movement regarding the security of our borders and the flood of illegal immigrants. He believes that Congress will do something, such as amnesty, to appease the people, but will not do what is necessary, which he thinks is the closure of the borders. You can click here to listen to this interview. Babbin has written a book titled ?Inside the Asylum: Why the United Nations and Old Europe Are Worse Than You Think? which you can own by clicking here. You can also see some of Babbin?s article by going to Spectator.org or FamilySecurityMatters.com. One more thought from Babbin: We need to stop thinking of the Middle East as individual countries and to start thinking of them and treating them as a region.

Naturally

Wednesday, April 19th, 2006

Holy Moly. Fasten your seat belts. Dr. Cass Ingram is the guest of Chuck Harder on this episode of Chuck?s ?For the People? show. Ingram is a passion-filled, fast-talking, no-pulling the punches type of man about the need for using natural health cures. And when he finds out that Chuck was recently in a hospital and what happened to him there,
well, he is off and running. Ingram has written several books; the latest is ?Natural Cures for Health Disasters? which you can own by clicking here. Does the good doctor think we are in trouble with the avian flu, Chuck wants to know? Not exactly. What he is more concerned about is Hepatitis ?B?, Hep ?C? and Hep ?A?. Then there is the epidemic, he says, of bedbugs. And let?s not forget the increasing problems caused by parasites. Click here to listen.

Death Tax Jeopardy

Wednesday, April 19th, 2006

OK. Today we are going to play a little ?Jeopardy?. Here?s the answer: ?Bribes are cheaper than taxes?. Now cue the insipid music. And as a contestant what do you say? ?Why do small American businesses move to Mexico?? The topic on this episode of Chuck Harder?s show, ?For the People?, is the Death Tax. The guest is Dick Patten, Executive Director of the American Family Business Institute (NoDeathTax.org) and he says that at the death of the head of a family business, the family must pay the government 40% of the evaluated worth and has just 9 months to come up with it. What do some families do who struggle to come up with that amount? Well, they can sell the business off to some conglomerate or if it?s a family farm, there are now 3.6 million acres that have been clear cut in order to pay the government the taxes. Click here to listen to this interview. Death taxes, by the way, are not just at a federal level. There are some states that also have their finger in the pie. Washington, which for a while did not, has now reinstituted them, says Patten, so that they can tap into more monies.

Welcome Back, Chuck!

Monday, April 17th, 2006

Chuck is truly back-not only physically (after two stays in two different hospitals) but he is back in form as he questions his guest on his show, For the People. The guest is Dr. Hugh Cort (CortForPresident2008.com). Cort admits that he has no chance of winning the Presidency but is using that platform to let the people know his views on several issues including illegal immigrants. But mostly in this interview, the topic is Iraq and Iran. He starts by saying we should bomb the ayatollahs. And then he proposes that two of the most sought after terrorists (supposed to be in America) be highlighted on the TV show, ?America?s Most Wanted? but Chuck wants to know what is taking so long since Cort proposed this same thing several months ago. How about Cort?s take on what needs to be done with Iran? Take out Iran now or we end up waiting for it to destroy our cities. Chuck also asks Cort if we are experiencing Armageddon and Cort replies that ?Armageddon is very, very close?. He says it is because we have gotten away from God and need to turn back. Click here to listen to Cort and to hear Chuck back in good form. Glad your back, Chuck!

Texas Tea

Monday, April 17th, 2006

What if oil was not limited? What if it was just there, available for the taking, no matter where you lived? What if a stray bullet shot into the ground produced a gusher? No, no, that was the Beverly Hillbillies. However, Dr. Jerome Corsi proposes in his latest book, ?Black Gold Stranglehold? that the United States does not need to be dependent on the Middle East countries for our oil supplies because oil is available here in unlimited amounts. He believes in the theory first proposed by Dr. Thomas Gold that oil is not a fossil fuel and is not finite. Corsi is the guest on Chuck Harder?s TalkStarRadio show, For the People. Chuck and Corsi discuss what effect this would have on the policies and our relationships with other countries. You can click here to listen to this interview about the idea that the oil stranglehold does not have to be. And click here to own Corsi?s book.

American Small Business League vs The Small Business Administration

Saturday, April 8th, 2006

Join us on “From the Source” as we interview, Lloyd Chapman of the American Small Business League about unfair practices of the Small Business Administration.?

Lloyd Chapman brings a lifetime of innovation, business and political savvy to his position as President of the American Small Business League.?

Born and raised in Texas, as a young man Lloyd worked for legendary Texas political leader Bob Bullock, and later spent eight years in the Texas Controller?s office. In this capacity, he created a community outreach program and developed a successful employee suggestion system that has been used by every state in the country. ?They were going to hire a think tank to get recommendations on how to improve things,? Lloyd recalled. ?But I suggested we first ask our workers for ideas and pay them for any that saved money. We saved $1 million the first year with this system, and it soon became the standard for Texas and was later adopted by all fifty states.??

In 1986 Lloyd moved to California and entered the computer industry. At GC Micro, a leading supplier of computer hardware and software to government and corporate clients, he soon became an advocate for the technology industry. In his advocacy role, he closely monitored Federal ?set-aside? contracts for small businesses. His work triggered a 1991 Congressional investigation into the F-22 Stealth fighter that forced the Air Force and Lockheed Martin to allocate an additional $501 million to small and minority-owned firms.?

In his continuing role as a small business advocate, Lloyd led GC Micro?s litigation to release information on small business utilization in government contracts. In 1993, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 9th Circuit ruled in favor of GC Micro forcing the Defense Logistics Agency to release vital information documenting small business contracting awards. This has paved the way for greater participation by small businesses in government contracting by exposing the lack of enforcement of the Congressionally mandated small business goals.?

In 2003, Lloyd prompted a GAO investigation that resulted in Federal Government confirmation that a significant number of small business contracts were being awarded to some of the world?s largest corporations.?

In order to promote fair policy in Federal small business contracting, Lloyd formed a trade group, the Micro Industry Suppliers Association, in 2003. As membership began to include businesses outside the computer industry, the name of the organization was changed to the American Small Business League in 2004.?? ?

A true crusader for the rights of small business, Lloyd is a familiar figure at the Small Business Administration and in Congress, where he has continued to work tirelessly during the last two presidential administrations.?

?I believe the American Small Business League will win the fight to uphold the Small Business Act of 1953,? states Lloyd. ?I look forward to the day that billions of dollars in Federal small business contracts, which have been diverted to large firms for years, are returned to legitimate small businesses as Congress intended.??

Lloyd lives in Novato in northern California.

Chuck’s Back!

Tuesday, April 4th, 2006

Chuck Harder is back online with his show, For the People, after an absence of a couple of weeks, due to health problems. And he starts his show with guest William Hawkins, a Senior Fellow at the US Business and Industrial Council (AmericanEconomicAlert.org). So what?s on Chuck?s mind today? He says that when he was in the hospital he had lots of time to watch the History Channel and he was reminded of how this country used to be so strong in manufacturing. That?s not the case now, though. Hawkins says that other countries do not want our products any more; they just want the means, the technological ways of producing. Chuck and Hawkins also talk about the buyout of Lucent Technologies by Alcatel, a French company. Did you know that other countries, such as France, will not allow an American company to buy out one of their country?s companies? In other words, if Lucent had tried to buy out Alcatel, France would have put the kibosh on that. So how come the US allows that to happen to our companies? Here?s another tidbit from Hawkins: ?Bush will never admit his mistakes.? Click here to listen to more of his tidbits and discussion with Chuck.
