My Apologies to My Granddaughter

Wednesday, June 28th, 2006

I have a beautiful five-month old granddaughter who is one of the best-natured babies I?ve ever known. She almost always has a smile or grin on her face and coos with delight at all that surrounds her. Maybe she would not do that, however, if she heard and understood what Chuck Harder?s guest shared on this program of ?For the People?. The guest is Andrew Gause (AndyGause.com) who Chuck describes as a currency expert. What he says is that every child born today already faces a debt of $28,600 courtesy of the federal debt. Sorry, Baby-girl. According to Gause and Harder, we are in a mess. As a matter of fact, Gause says that this current generation of legislators is ?on a drunken binge of spending?. Chuck wants to know if anyone in Washington gets it that we are in trouble and Gause says, oh they get it but ?they are all laissez faire there?. He avers that the philosophy is to let someone else further down the road take care of the problem so they can look good and get reelected. Anything good on the horizon, asks Chuck? Anything that can be done for those who are struggling now? Gause says to start now to accumulate tangible assets like real estate, art, gold, silver, platinum, whatever you can, even if you start small. And stay away from bonds. Gause has a book called ?Uncle Sam Cooks the Books? that you can own by clicking here. To listen to this podcast and hear what else Gause shares, click here.

The Birds Are Coming

Wednesday, June 28th, 2006

We haven?t heard a whole lot about Avian Flu recently but it is coming, according to Dr. Gil Smolin, guest of Chuck Harder on the ?For the People? show. Dr. Smolin is a Clinical Professor and Researcher at the University of Calif. Medical School at San Francisco. He is also the author of a medical thriller called ?Reign of the Rat?. (Click here to own.) Smolin believes that although the government has stations in Alaska and California to track the advent of bird flu in America, there is not much that can be done to stop it on a national level. Instead it will be up to each individual to do what is necessary, starting with washing your hands after being in contact with other people. He also believes that when it comes and wherever it comes, it will have a significant impact on that country?s economy. Hardest hit, says Smolin, will be the Asian countries. So why haven?t we heard much about it in the last month or so? It?s taking a hiatus, so to speak in the warmer months but Smolin feels that it will resurge as Fall comes and the cold weather arrives. Oh boy. And we thought we only had the frigid temperature and snow to dread. Click here to listen to this podcast.

Energy All Around

Monday, June 26th, 2006

Dr. Nick Begich is back on Chuck Harder?s ?For the People? show and as always, he has plenty to say and it?s lively. Begich, (EarthPulse.com) has spent much of his adult life pursing education in the sciences and in politics. Today, the topic is energy. Begich believes that we are being fed small problems so that we will ?buy into the big lie that the world is energy deprived?. He believes that there are plenty of energy sources in the world. Asked by Chuck if he thinks there will be drilling on the ANWR (Artic National Wildlife Refuge) he responds, yes. He also states that if China (who he thinks will have a hydrogen-hybrid car ready in less than 5 years) and the Middle East ever decide to work together to take us down, they could do so over night. Their ideologies are so vastly different from ours that it would be no problem. Where we value the individual (we believe the individual matters), they believe that the individual only matters in what he can bring to the community. That very difference would make it easy for them to destroy us. There are plenty of other thought-provoking and sometimes disturbing things that Begich claims. Click here to give a listen to this podcast.

The FCC and the 1st Amendment

Monday, June 26th, 2006

Jonathon Emord esq. is a practicing attorney who, according to his website (Emord.com) has ?an abiding conviction to achieve full First Amendment protection for the freedoms of speech and press?. That, plus the fact that he started his career by serving on the Federal Communications Commission under the Reagan Administration, is probably the very reason that he is a guest on the ?For the People? show hosted by Chuck Harder on TalkStarRadio. Emord says that the government is the enemy of the First Amendment. Strong words. Chuck wants to talk about what he sees as the monopoly of radio stations. Years ago there were individual radio stations that had direct contact with the community but now, says Chuck, there are just a few large conglomerates that own most of the radio stations and people don?t have a choice as to what they hear. Guest Emord disagrees. He says that he does not see it as a monopoly but as competition; that people do have a choice. If they don?t like what they hear, they can turn the radio off. Click here to listen to this podcast and see what else they may disagree upon and, what areas provide agreement.

Friendly Support

Friday, June 23rd, 2006

There has been much talk about Ann Coulter?s new book called ?Godless? and not all of it complimentary. Many people have taken her to task for one particular statement. In writing of four Sept 11th widows from New Jersey who have been vocal as to their opposition of the Bush Administration, Coulter wrote ?I have never seen people enjoying their husbands? deaths so much.? Actually there has been a mild uproar, especially from those who are not as conservative as Coulter. She does have her defenders, however, and one of those is the guest of Chuck Harder on his ?For the People? show. Her name is Lisa De Pasquale and she is the CPAC Director for the American Conservative Union (Conservative.org). De Pasquale says that Coulter was right in saying that it should be okay to disagree with someone even though they may have experienced a tragedy. But methinks, perhaps, there is more to the matter than that. De Pasquale also weighs in on the Al Gore flick ?Inconvenient Truth?. Click here to listen to this interview with Chuck and his guest.

Spilling the Beans about Nuclear Spills

Friday, June 23rd, 2006

Dr. Conrad Miller has been a guest on the For the People show before with host Chuck Harder. The last time around there was discussion regarding COPE (Communications Opportunity Promotion and Enhancement Act of 2006) but this time the main topic is of a nuclear nature. The doctor says the nuclear plants we have now are getting old but renewing their licenses or building new plants is not the answer. He points to the problems that are occurring in Godley, IL as an example as to why nuclear power plants are not ?safe and clean? as President Bush has stated. His preference for getting out of the energy mess we are in is wind power. Chuck, himself, built a house powered by solar and wind power but says you still need a backup. Miller, who is author of ?The Most Important Issues Americans THINK They Know Enough About?, is also an emergency physician and a surfer- hence the title of his website CrestOfTheWave. (To own the book, click here.) Other topics under discussion in this episode are ethanol, milk, and a case from the ER. Click here to listen to how they all fit together.

Whatever Happened to Ma’am and Sir?

Monday, June 19th, 2006

Chuck Harder shares some memories of a much gentler, more respectful time in our country where adult men were referred to as Mr. So-and-so, and ladies were addressed as Miss or Mrs. Then along came Cable TV and, according to Chuck and law officials that he?s talked to, manners and respect flew out the window. Chuck?s guest, Rev. David Berman, however, disagrees. He thinks the decline started in the 1960s. Never-the-less, they both agree that our country is in trouble. Berman (RevBerman.com) in his book ?Wake Up and Smell the Truth? writes about several hot button issues (click here to own the book) but today he and Chuck really focus in on the reasons why the country is struggling. In a word, it has to do with principles- or more accurately the lack of principles. Berman says that it doesn?t matter what party a person belongs to, that if they do not possess principles, then there is trouble afoot. When Chuck asked about Berman?s thoughts regarding President Bush, Berman responds that he did not vote for Bush the first time because he was afraid of just what has happened. He did vote for him the second time but did it ?holding his nose? ? an euphemism for voting for the lesser of two evils, I think. Berman is passionate about what he believes and it comes through loud and clear. He says, ?Gotta get the word out and I?m not afraid to say it.? Is there any one in government that Berman likes and thinks might be able to turn us around? Click here to find out.

The Cholesterol War – A Jonathan Emord Podcast

Saturday, June 17th, 2006

drugsJonathan’s guests are Dr. Peter Langsjoen, cardiologist, and Byron J. Richards, Board-Certified Clinical Nutritionist.
Statin Drugs are used to lower cholesterol is this a good thing?

What is Cholesterol? It is a soft, fat-like, waxy substance found in the bloodstream and in all your body’s cells. It’s normal to have cholesterol. It’s an important part of a healthy body because it’s used for producing cell membranes and some hormones, and serves other needed bodily functions.
Some studies have shown that statin drugs increase risk of cancer. The same studies also has shown no reduction in cardio-vascular disease.

The U.S. approved labeling included a specific section titled, ?Myopathy/Rhabdomyolysis?, which states that patients who are of advanced age (65 and older), have hypothyroidism, and/or renal insufficiency should be considered to have a greater risk for developing myopathy while receiving a statin. Physicians are warned to prescribe Crestor with caution in these patients, particularly at higher doses, as the risk of myopathy increases with higher drug levels.

In 17 years of practice in Tyler, Texas, Dr. Peter H. Langsjoen has seen a “frightening increase in heart failure secondary to statin usage.” Says Langsjoen: “Over the past five years, statins have become more potent, are being prescribed in higher doses and are being used with reckless abandon in the elderly and in patients with ‘normal’ cholesterol levels. We are in the midst of a CHF epidemic in the US with a dramatic increase over the past decade.”

Richards’ book is Fight for Your Health: Exposing the FDA’s Betrayal of America exposes FDA and drug company cover-up. Adverse reactions, even deaths, are hidden while dangerous drugs are pushed on Americans, especially children?simply for profit. The FDA is actively attacking health freedom and seeking to eliminate natural health options. It is time for Americans to stand up and be heard. Richards’ website is Wellness Resource

Let us know what do you think?

Jonathon Emord says his program will document specific instances of FDA and FTC abuse of power that sacrifice life or liberty.

Emord, the only attorney in history who has defeated the Food and Drug Administration in federal court on six separate occasions, will host ?Health Law and Politics.? The program airs every Saturday from 4 PM to 6 PM Eastern via radio stations nationwide and via web radio over the Talk Star Radio Network (www.talkstarradio.com).

Nothing to Laugh About

Wednesday, June 14th, 2006

The guest on Chuck Harder?s ?For the People? show may be a stand-up comedian but he?s not laughing and neither is Chuck. The guest is Melrose Larry Green (MelroseLarry.com). When he?s not being funny on purpose he pays the bills by preparing other people?s tax forms. And when he?s not doing either then he is writing a book or talking about why he thinks the Clintons are not the greatest gift to America. As a matter of fact, the title of his book is ?Why the Clintons Belong in Prison?. (If you wish to own the book, click here.) Besides the Clintons, Chuck and his guest also discuss the IRS (Green thinks it should be abolished), the illegal immigration situation (Green hails from Los Angeles and has some first-hand stories), and the gang situation in LA county. According to Green there are 100 different gangs and about 500,000 members in those gangs. All of this is pretty heavy duty stuff and one might wonder how and why a stand up comedian would be involved in such issues. Perhaps it?s that a comedian is also a student of people?s behavior. Click here to listen in and see if you agree with Green

The Right Side of FDR

Wednesday, June 14th, 2006

Bill Federer is back as a guest on Chuck Harder?s ?For the People? show on TalkStarRadio. Today he is talking about Franklin Delano Roosevelt ? FDR- and his fireside chats. He has comprised many of the utterances, phrases, speeches of FDR into a book called ?The Faith of FDR?. (Click here to own.) What is interesting about these quotes is that when they were first spoken by FDR back in the 1930s and 1940s they were considered to be to the left/ liberal side but now, in today?s world of politics that is not necessarily the case. Federer says that many of the quotes are more closely aligned with the conservative or right side. Oh, the time?s they are a-changing. There is one arresting comment by Federer about cannibals- listen carefully by clicking here to see what he?s talking about.

Chuck All the Way

Monday, June 12th, 2006

This show is all Chuck.? Actually, it?s all two Chucks- Chuck Harder, host of ?For the People? and his guest Chuck Morse, conservative talk host in the Boston area and candidate for the House of Representatives from that area.? Morse says he is running because he is opposed to the current Representative, Barney Franks and his stand on the immigration issue.? He says that back in the 90?s Frank wrote a bill that opened the door for terrorists to enter this country undeterred.? Morse says that many of the people in MA are not even aware of this and he is trying to get the word out (MorseForCongress.com).? Chuck H. wants to know why the people of Massachusetts have put up with Frank for so long and Chuck M. says that the people of his state are not necessarily apathetic but that don?t like change.?Click here to listen to Morse express his concerns in this area, his support of the Patriot Act and who he believes will be the next President (and it?s not H. Clinton, or McCain, or Edwards, or Gore, or Frist).? Here?s a hint: think Governor of MA.

“Non-normie”

Monday, June 12th, 2006

Every once in a while, Chuck Harder, host of ?For the People? on TalkStarRadio, has a guest that does not talk about issues that are of a political bent.? That?s the case today.? The guest is Jack Thomas of NonNormie.com. That?s Non-Normie.? And what, you may ask, is a non-normie?? According to Thomas, a non-normie is an emotionally driven non-normal person. This is not the same as a mentally ill person.? Thomas is and has been a member of a 12-step recovery program (Al-Anon) and this background plus training in this area has led him to put together the website. Here are some statements by Thomas: a non-normie ?is driven by anger within?; for a non-normie an attack on their view of an issue is perceived as a personal attack; normies have principles while non-normies have driven causes.? This is all interesting stuff but it gets even more so when Chuck and guest Thomas start discussing Hillary Clinton.? Click here to listen in on their discussion.

Riding Along in My Automobile

Friday, June 2nd, 2006

Remember the jingle ?See the USA in your Chev-ro-let?? I think it was sung by Dinah Shore (and yes, I know I?m showing my age again). How would it be if the words were changed to something like ?Drive your car for almost free in your P H E V?? You probably would love it if you knew that a PHEV is a modified hybrid car that can get 100+ mpg. Sounds intriguing, doesn?t it? The guest of Chuck Harder on his ?For the People? show explains what and how in this show. His name is John Davi and he is the Communications Director for CalCars.org, a group of entrepreneurs, environmentalists and engineers with a few others thrown into the mix. Their purpose is to promote the ?adoption of efficient, non-polluting automotive technologies?. Their idea was to take a hybrid car and alter it so that you could plug the car in every night to recharge the battery. This means that for daily commutes you could just use the electricity and then for longer hauls you would revert back to the gasoline routine. How much would it save? Significantly enough to make the initial cost absorbed within a short time. Can you pick one up now? Not exactly but this promises to actually hang around for a while as opposed to other ideas of the past that often disappeared before most people knew about them. Chuck wants to know why Davi and his group feel that this concept will not evaporate. Because, says Davi, there is so much pressure on the people in Washington and thus the automakers that the momentum will bring this to fruition. Timing is everything. Click here to listen to this podcast.
