Our Next Vice President ?

Friday, September 15th, 2006

Perhaps you have peered into the future- the political arena future- and you may have some idea about who is going to run for President for the Republicans and who will be the standard bearer for the Democrats.  On the other hand, maybe you don’t have a clue because everybody seems to be jockeying for position. And you can’t figure out what anybody really thinks about the various problems facing our country because it sounds more like they are saying what their audience wants them to say instead of what’s in their hearts. Take heart.  There are two people who have already stepped up to the plate and have declared their intention to be the next President and Vice President of the United States.  Their names are Daniel Imperato and Webster Brooks.  They are independents and, as such, realize the necessity of starting early on the campaign trail.  Webster Brooks is the guest in this special edition of a combined Voice in Politics and Vermont Viewpoint Online.  The hosts, Joanne Lithgow, station master for Good Politics Radio Florida and Don Lewellen, station master for Good Politics Radio Vermont, join forces to ask Mr. Brooks questions ranging from why he and Mr. Imperato are running to how can the  American voter be assured that voting for a third party is not a wasted vote.  Brooks explains that both men started with next to nothing but have been able to achieve the American dream.  They both have a real concern that this next generation for the first time, may not have a higher standard of living due to the all the issues and problems facing this country.  He also clarifies that they are running as independents and are not affiliated with any party although they work closely with those in third parties. Several issues of the day are also covered in this podcast interview and Mr. Brooks is thoughtful in his answer of each concern that is raised.  He says that the Imperato-Brooks (ImperatoBrooks.com) ticket has a full platform where they address every issue and offer solutions.  He speaks to the issues of energy, Iraq, education, Social Security, illegal immigration, racial profiling, and health care costs. R. Brooks wants the listener to know also that they can be reached at 561-833-4420. This is a podcast well worth your time, click here to listen.

David and Goliath in Politics

Monday, September 11th, 2006

Max Linn Candidate for Governor of Florida

The famous biblical story of David and Goliath may have some significance in the Florida Gubernatorial election and if ‘David’ wins, possibly on national politics. The odds are heavily stacked against 3rd party candidates, but that might well be changing with Max Linn running for Governor of Florida.

A strong wind of discontent is blowing across Florida and the entire country. Many Republicans are unhappy with the Republican Party. Many Democrats are dissatisfied with the Democratic Party. The huge independent voting block has turned away from main stream politics, people are fed up with ‘business as usual’ in all levels of politics. Our system of government has been operating for years now on the very strong two party system, backed both by career politicians and big business feeding off one another.

Albert Einstein said, “You can’t solve a problem with the same mind that created it.” The two major contenders in the race for governor are both career politicians who have been part of creating many of the current problems in the state. The low voter turn out (in some areas only 10%) in the recent state primary show that people are fed up with the negative campaigns and the 30 second sound bytes. People have become cynical and feel they have no control or voice, it is always just ‘politics as usual’ varying very little with who ever is in power. That’s why such a large percentage of people don’t bother to vote, they feel it really doesn’t make much difference who is elected.

Max Linn is running for Governor of Florida because it’s a position of management authority. It will allow the citizens to see the difference between career politicians and the businessman legislator who is there to make decisions for the people and not special interests and big business. He became known through out the state in his successful crusade as the president and founder of “Florida Citizens for Term Limits”. After reaching the Vice-Presidency of Investments with A.G. Edwards & Sons, he founded his own registered investment advisory firm, Linn and Associates, one of the largest and most successful firms of its kind in Florida. He was a much sought after speaker due to his groundbreaking work with educational financial workshops. Max has been often quoted as a financial authority in national media, columnist for Tampa Bay Magazine and host of two television shows, “The Financial Explorer” and “The Conservative Investor”. He has been heavily involved in public service and an array of charitable causes and philanthropic work.

Both the campaign managers for Jesse Ventura and Ross Perot are now his campaign manager and campaign coordinator. They both feel with Max’s extensive background of civic and philanthropic involvement, he is the strongest third party candidate in America today and will be Florida’s next governor. As Governor of Florida, Max Linn will start a national trend that shows America does not have to settle for ‘politics as usual’.

It’s been said that the country gets what it deserves, will voters continue to complain and grumble, yet stay away from the polls in droves, remain uninvolved and let the minority rule? Will the electorate ignore all negative campaigning and insist that all candidates specifically state what they are running for, not what they are running against?

Will Max Linn be able to make a real difference in politics? Can he rejuvenate the millions of disenfranchisedgrass root voters and get them to believe enough in him to go to the polls and vote for him on November 7th

Will this be the David and Goliath story in politics this November?

Aglow

Friday, September 8th, 2006

Imagine you are in a space shuttle or perhaps on the international space station. You look down at this orb called earth that is in the shadow of night but it is aglow with lights everywhere.  There are no dark corners or masses of land-the world is totally plugged in.  This is the vision of Peter Meisen, founder of Global Energy Network Institute (GENI.org).  Meisen is the guest of Chuck Harder on this show of “For the People”.  His vision is based on a question posed by Buckminster Fuller 30 years ago: “How do we make the world work for 100% of humanity in the shortest possible time through spontaneous cooperation without ecological damage or disadvantage to anyone?”  Meisen’s goal is to have a world wide web of electricity and in this hour program he and Chuck discuss how that can be accomplished and what the obstacle might be.  Click here to listen in.

One Meat Ball, Please

Friday, September 1st, 2006

Last week I made some spaghetti sauce- yep, I still make it from scratch.  Some of the ingredients I put in were oregano, garlic and onion.  The guest of Chuck Harder on today’s “For the People” show would have approved.  The guest was Stuart Tunc, who is, he says, the chief science liaison at North American Herb & Spice (P-73.com).  The founder of that company is Dr. Cass Ingram who has been a frequent guest on Chuck’s show.  According to Tunc, the four most potent herbs in fighting bacterial and viral nasties are oregano, allspice, onion and garlic. So my spaghetti sauce hit three out of four- not bad.  Really what the two men talk about is the control that pharmaceutical companies have on information regarding natural cures and what cures are possible.  Do I believe everything that Tunc suggests?  I’m not sure but I do know I love my spaghetti sauce.  Click here to listen to this podcast.
